Guidelines for Local Associations Applying for WIMGA Membership

It is necessary to have at least 10 paid members to form and carry out the initial duties of the group. Once By-laws are written then it would be possible to petition the WIMGA Association for admission of a Local Association into the Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association. Only one (1) MGA is permitted in each county.

A local association may join the WIMGA by petitioning the State Association for admission in writing and by supplying the State Association with:

  • A copy of its by-laws
  • The names and addresses of its officers and the designated local representative to the WIMGA
  • Its official postal address
  • Cover letter requesting admission to the WIMGA

The petition should be sent electronically to the Secretary of the WIMGA (currently Laura Franta, 3693-134th St., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729). The secretary will send written confirmation of receipt of the petition. The WIMGA's Executive committee will review the petition and upon theirn approval make recommendations to the full Board. The full board will then vote on the petition at any regular WIMGA business meeting.
