MG Training

Master Gardener training is the responsibility of UW-Extension (not MGVs or a MG association). Locally, Extension may delegate facilitation of the program to MGVs, but Extension is still ultimately responsible for decisions regarding training.

The Master Gardener Level 1 training program is not a gardening class. It is designed to train volunteers to assist UWEX in community horticultural programs through volunteerism, education, and environmental stewardship, with an emphasis on developing skills and confidence in utilizing UW-Extension and other research-based resources to answer homeowner gardening questions.

Level 2 Training is advanced training for certified MGVs.  Level 1 Training is a prerequisite for this class, so this program should only be offered to MGVs and not to the general public.
