MG Program Orientation

It is essential to inform participants about the MG Program BEFORE they begin training so they are aware of the expectations for volunteer service. This can be accomplished through an introductory session, otherwise the first training class must include an orientation to Extension and the WI MG Program.

Be sure to emphasize that the MG Program is a volunteer organization (not a gardening class) and they are training to become volunteers in horticulture!

Additional short presentations that focus on specific aspects of the MG Program should be introduced throughout the course to reinforce the concepts about volunteerism and the structure of the MG Program. Standard presentations are available below. These can be modified to suit the local situation, or your own presentation can be substituted.

Note: download these PowerPoint files to project from your computer. This series is designed to be presented in the order listed, one at each of the 12 class sessions.
